In the second part of our custom closet series, we’re taking a look at how we addressed the specific challenges our client had in their small walk-in closet.
Continuing with our project at the Landing Residence we worked with our friends at RSVP Design again to create a custom solution for a small space.
As you can see there isn’t a lot of room in this closet. But the homeowner wanted a space that was more organized so everything they needed would be in one place. The homeowner had the following requirements: space for dresses, space for all other hanging clothes, drawers for socks and undergarments, shoe storage, laundry basket, decorative mirror, and jewellery storage.
We wanted to keep the aesthetic of the solution modern so rather than go with white shelves in the walk-in, we went with matte black and a medium brown oak. One of the benefits of custom design is that you don’t have to sacrifice style, which means you can carry your aesthetic throughout your entire home.
To continue with the modern look we eliminated exposed hardware and went with a touch latch system.
We created some cubbies for shoe storage (see Part I of the series) that can also double as extra storage for other items. We added tons of drawers for socks, undergarments, scarves, and of course jewelry. We utilized as much as the width as possible as well as took the design floor to ceiling.
So next time you’re thinking of adding some storage to your closets, consider custom as an option!
